Had a Club 3D ATi Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB GDDR5 till it got broken (probably because of the bad airflow in my chassis) and never had that problem. I did have the problem on my old PC once with Quake 3 which uses the same engine (PC with a Radeon 7000, yeah I know, what a difference). This is what I did: I downloaded the SciTech GLDirect drivers, downloadable from here. Installed it and restarted my computer. I tried running Quake 3 and it ran just fine. After that I uninstalled the software, so if that's possible in your case, that's good, if the game keeps malfunctioning, reinstall the software and keep it would be my best guess. Since the GLDirect drivers are discontinued, use this code to register. Name: Free Code Code: 1C10-0485-A489-E2 Let me know if it was any help.
